What are the motives for operating illegal gambling offers?

The investigators have to contend with very different forms of illegal gambling in United Kingdom. The operators are probably primarily concerned with making money. But investigators often uncover further details.

The State Treaty on Gambling prohibits the setting up of slot machines or the organization of other games of chance without an appropriate license. While this measure is intended to protect players, some politicians fear that the strict rules could encourage the black market.

During their investigation, the officers also have to find out what other criminal activities could be associated with the operation of an illegal gambling service. The perpetrators are often accused of money laundering, tax evasion or forming a criminal organization. Any penalties will also be based on these allegations.

There are always incidents – including in Stuttgart

It's not just in North Rhine-Westphalia that investigators seem to have a lot to do to curb the spread of illegal gambling in back rooms. The Stuttgarter Nachrichten reported that an illegal gambling operation was uncovered in a Cannstatt restaurant on Sunday night.

During the operation in Stuttgart, 20 people were found in the restaurant. It is not specified whether all of them took part in gambling. However, the police were able to seize playing cards, chips and thousands of euros in cash. This confirmed the existing suspicion that gambling was regularly carried out in the restaurant.

Reports of crackdowns on illegal gambling make it to the media every month. There is no end in sight and it can be assumed that the investigators could already have new objects and associations in their sights that are currently under observation.
