The canteen at the company headquarters had been converted into a kind of command center, where all those who wanted to contribute to the donations were registered. Small gifts and snacks were also available for them to strengthen themselves. After a short, routine medical examination, half a liter of blood was taken from each volunteer. The blood collection itself took place in the DRK blood donation mobile. 156 employees of the group take part, much to the delight of those responsible, as blood donations are urgently neededigt.

Blood donations are urgently needed

Actions like this, by DRK blood donation service West, the DRK Lübbecke local association and the Gauselmann Group were put together together, are urgently neededigt. The approximately 120 hospitals and doctor's practices in the Detmold and Münster districts require around 1,000 blood units per day. In addition to people who are involved in accidents, cancer patients are particularly dependent on blood donations. Corona pandemic causes preparedness to decline

A study by the University of Hamburg shows shows how much the willingness to donate blood has decreased during the corona pandemic. While acute disasters typically increase sensitivity to the issue, donation intentions dropped rapidly, especially among inactive donors. These are all those who have already donated blood, but not in the last two years. Against this background, actions like those of the Gauselmann Group and the commitment shown therein are becoming increasingly important.

A sports program is intended to keep employees fit in the here and now. The company also drew attention to itself with its vaccination campaign during the pandemic.

Blood donation campaign was a complete success

The blood donation campaign that the Gauselmann Group carried out together with the DRK was a success across the board. 117 people had even made an appointment in advance. The remaining employees were spontaneous donors. It would be particularly desirable if campaigns like these would also inspire other companies to get involved and follow suit.
