Gambling under strict guidelines

The report states that the authority will work to ensure safe and responsible gambling in the United Arab Emirates. The planned framework conditions are “world-leading”.
Kevin Mullally will be the managing director of the new gaming authority. He served as the CEO of the Missouri Gaming Commission for many years and brings over 30 years of experience in the gaming industry. The chairman of the board of directors will be Jim Murren, who, according to US media, was the head of the gaming group MGM Resorts International for a long time.
A country in transition
The United Arab Emirates are a predominantly Muslim country: strict rules apply in some areas, but there are now also some relaxations. For example, alcohol has been permitted for several years and can be consumed by tourists and locals aged 21 and over. Both the 30 percent tax on alcohol and the liquor license that tourists previously required to purchase alcohol have been abolished.
Dress codes have also been relaxed. Men are allowed to wear shorts in the United Arab Emirates and no longer have to cover themselves with a long shirt. Women do not have to veil and are allowed to wear summer dresses or T-shirts. Merely A headscarf must be worn in mosques.

Gambling and betting are currently prohibited in the country because Islam prohibits them. If the ban is relaxed, at least for tourists, or even completely abolished, this could further increase the number of visitors to the Arab Emirates.
When will gambling come to the United Arab Emirates?
The introduction of the gambling authority could pave the way for casinos in the United Arab Emirates. Wynn Resorts is currently building a resort in the United Arab Emirates, which is said to be opening in 2027 and would be the first casino in the country.
