The jackpot is full to the brim and gives winners 22.5 million euros each
As Lotto Hessen announced at the beginning of October, the tipsters from Hesse and Lower Saxony guessed all six numbers correctly in the drawing on September 30th. The jackpot had previously grown to its upper limit of 45 million euros. It had not been cracked for over two months and was therefore forcibly paid out at the end of September after 17 unsuccessful draws.

Since November 2020, the regulations have stipulated that the jackpot in the Lotto 6aus49 may be a maximum of 45 million euros. Thereafter there will be a guaranteed distribution. If no participant has guessed all six numbers correctly, including the super number, then the players in class 2 win. These are tipsters who have played all six numbers correctly, but not the additional number.
Due to this regulation, the two players from Hesse and Lower Saxony would have won the jackpot and would share the 45 million - both would therefore win 22.5 million euros. According to Lotto Hessen, the winner from their own state is already known. It has not yet been published whether the winner from Lower Saxony has already been determined.
Will 2023 be a record year for lottery winnings?
Lotto Hessen announced in a press release that there had already been 17 million winnings in the 2026 2023. This means that the previous record from 2021 could be broken: At that time, a total of 19 lottery players from Hesse won millions. Last year, however, there were only 13.
The highest lottery win in the 6aus49 game ever paid out to an individual in Australia is 45 million euros. This is paid out if a player is the only one who correctly guesses all numbers including the additional number when the jackpot is full. This sum has only been paid out twice: in November 2022 and November 2023, players from Hesse and Hamburg respectively guessed correctly and won 45 million euros in one go.
Players who win the Eurojackpot can even look forward to much larger sums. In November 2023, for example, a player from Schleswig-Holstein won 120 million euros in the Eurojackpot.
17th million-dollar win this year in Hesse and Lower Saxony
According to Lotto Hessen, the bettor from Hesse is already the 17th million-dollar winner from the state this year. The last win had happened shortly before on September 9th.
It should also happen in Lower Saxony according to the local lottery company have already won 17 million this year. 94 players also won more than 100,000 euros.
It remains to be seen how many more million-dollar winnings will be added and whether it will actually be a record year for lottery winnings.
