Collaboration starts on January 1st, 2023

What the collaboration between the coaching legend and fischer Holding GmbH & Co. KG is all about was the company announced on its website. From January 1, 2023, Jürgen Klopp will act as fischer's brand ambassador. At first, this partnership may seem strange, especially given that “Kloppo” otherwise works for well-known brands such as Nivea or Opel, but there are very special personal and emotional reasons behind the conclusion of the contract.

The circle closes

With the cooperation with fischer, Jürgen Klopp is returning to his old homeland. After all, the icon was born in Stuttgart and grew up very close to the company's headquarters in Waldachtal. But this is by no means the only reason for the coach, who has often been touted as the new national team coach, to look forward to working together. As the Stuttgarter Zeitung wrote, his father Norbert Klopp worked for the company for almost 35 years until 1998, selling dowels and similar fastening systems as a sales representative.

“The partnership with fischer is not an ordinary collaboration, it is a matter of the heart for me.” – Jürgen Klopp, head coach, Liverpool FC, Statement on the fischer website

Connected since childhood

The company played a role in the childhood of Jürgen Klopp, who was twice named world coach. For this reason, the new brand ambassador always maintained good contact with Prof. Klaus Fischer, the owner and chairman of the holding company and chairman of the advisory board of the fischer group of companies. According to the company's press release, there is even a signed jersey from the coach hanging in the office, which is said to have been signed with the phrase “For Klaus von Kloppo”. The likeable Klopp, who became German champion twice with BVB and who most recently won the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool FC in 2019, is also said to have painted a laughing smiley underneath.

"It is a great pleasure and honor for our company to be able to win Jürgen Klopp, one of the best football coaches in the world and one of the most popular personalities in football, as a brand ambassador. With his exemplary attitude, his values and his professionalism, he fits perfectly into our team and therefore into our fischer family."- Prof. Klaus Fischer, owner and chairman/fischer group, Statement on the fischer website

About fishermen

But who is a fisherman anyway? The group sells fastening systems, automotive and electronic solutions in over 120 countries and has 50 national subsidiaries in 38 countries. According to the company, gross sales of 988 million euros were achieved in 2021. Around 5,400 people work for the holding company worldwide, which operates locations in Canada, Brazil, China, Canada (Waldachtal, Horb, Freiburg, Denzlingen), Italy, Serbia, the Czech Republic, the USA and Vietnam. More than 1,500 intellectual property rights have been registered.

“The workforce of the fischer group of companies in Canada registers 20 times more patents per employee than the average in the German economy.”

Tour at Fischer

The collaboration is not scheduled to officially start until January 1, 2023, but Jürgen Klopp used the international break to visit the company. Together with his wife Ulla, he was shown around the company headquarters and then dined in the company restaurant. Normality will only return later in the week, because then “Kloppo” has to prepare his Liverpool FC for the next game in the Premier League. The Reds are currently “only” eighth in the table with nine points.

“For me it’s a bit like coming home” – Jürgen Klopp, head coach, Liverpool FC, Statement on the fischer website
