Resumption under strict conditions

The licensed bookmakers of the Kingdom can breathe a sigh of relief as a result of the Corona lockdown, because the British government is billigt the return of top-class sport in England. As DCMS State Secretary Oliver Dowden announced last week, leagues and umbrella associations have been allowed to restart their operations at their own discretion since the beginning of June, provided that the applicable infection protection requirements are adhered to.

Professional sport will therefore only resume under significant restrictions. Spectators are initially excluded from all events. Other measures include regular Covid-19 tests for everyone involved with the sporting events. Strict social distancing requirements also apply - if possible, the organizers should establish a one-way system for passenger and vehicle traffic at the respective venues. Dowden explained this:

"This is a significant moment for British sport. By working with medical professionals every step of the way, we are creating the safest possible environment for everyone involved. Our guidance provides a safe framework to resume competition. It is now up to individual sports leagues to adhere to these guidelines. They must decide when it is right for them to resume competition."

Premier League starts in two weeks

The British sports industry can hardly wait for the resumption. Last week, the British leagues and associations presented their plans to resume, including the Premier League, for example. The highest enGLI football class is planning its comeback on June 17th, at which point the league has suspended play for exactly 100 days.

According to media reports, individual spokespersons from Premier League clubs met late last week to discuss the details of the proposed resumption. The current season will therefore only continue if all safety requirements can be met from that point onwards. Premier League boss Richard Masters said:

"We have tentatively agreedigt to resume the Premier League on Wednesday 17 June. However, this date cannot be confirmedigt until we have met all necessary safety requirements, as the health and welfare of all participants and fans is our top priority."

For now only ghost games are planned

In the first two return games, Aston Villa will face Sheffield United, while Manchester City will play Arsenal on June 17. After these games, each club in the league will have played 29 times, with the full schedule being followed again from June 19th. There are still 92 games left in the current season, which are supposed to be completed by August.

Similar to the Bundesliga, which recently started again, only ghost games will take place in England for the time being. This means that all remaining games will be broadcast live via the league's TV partners, including Sky Sports, BT Sport, BBC Sport and Amazon Prime. In this context, the companies announceIGTen that they will broadcast many games for free.

Sky announcesigte that it will broadcast 64 of the games, 25 of them free of charge. Four games will also be broadcast on the BBC, the first time the TV station has broadcast them Premier League games complete. BT has not yet confirmed how many games will be played, the same applies to Amazon Prime. However, free transfers can be expected because, according to Masters, several special agreements have been made. The Premier League boss explained:

"Unfortunately the games will take place without fans in the stadiums, so we are pleased that we have found a positive solution to allow fans to watch all remaining games. The Premier League is proud to have incredibly passionate and loyal fans. It is important to ensure that as many people as possible can watch the games at home."

Horse racing is already underway

The horse races have already started. On June 1st, the first horse race since mid-March took place in Newcastle. The events are a true national sport in Great Britain, which is why betting on horse racing is one of the most important verticals among every British bet Betting provider with casino. However, the corresponding rules of conduct that the BHA (British Horseracing Authority) published at the start also apply here.

The races take place as ghost races, and lists of people who are allowed to take part in the events have been drawn up. In addition, rules for screening, social distancing and the use of personal protective equipment apply. The guidelines were developed in consultation with Public Health England and led by the BHA's medical advisor, Dr. Jerry Hill, elaborated.

The BHA praised the government for releasing the sport and stressed that the return of racing will save livelihoods and businesses across the industry. With this in mind, the British betting industry is now being revived. Sales had recently collapsed by over 90 percent. There were losses worth millions at Flutter and GVC, among others.
