YouTube blocks Hustler Casino Live – What’s behind it?
The popular poker live stream show Hustler Casino Live, which regularly attracts thousands of viewers, became according to his own statement on X [Link to English] banned from YouTube for a week. This has caused a stir in the poker community, as the format is an integral part of the international poker scene.
We had an issue with our YouTube channel where we were banned for a week (we did nothing wrong and can't contact anyone).”–Hustler Casino Live, Poker YouTube Channel, x.com
The exact reason for the ban on Hustler Casino Live is not yet fully known. However, one of the show's co-founders, Ryan Feldman, commented on this to a poker publication. According to him, the suspension could be due to problems with advertising partners.
In recent years, YouTube has implemented strict guidelines for content [link to English] that is accompanied by certain types of advertising. Because gambling and poker often operate in a legal gray area, some of the show's ads or sponsors may have violated YouTube's policies.
Impact on the live stream
After the week-long ban, the Hustler Casino Live team reacted quickly and moved the live stream to the Twitch platform, which is less strict than YouTube when it comes to advertising. However, Twitch has so far only been used by the show as an emergency solution, as its reach on YouTube is much larger with over 360,000 subscribers.
Despite the blocking, the videos that have already been uploaded to the YouTube channel remain accessiblelich. However, according to Feldman's statements, there is concern that YouTube's algorithm could also review older videos if there are further violations of the guidelines.
Popular show with up to 30,000 spectators
Hustler Casino Live is one of the most successful live stream channels in poker history. The show is streamed from the Hustler Casino in Los Angeles and regularly attracts 10,000 to 30,000 viewers, particularly during major events such as the Million Dollar Game or during features well-known internet personalities like MrBeast [Link to English]. Also Neymar [Link to English] tried his luck at the Hustler Casino.

The ban could therefore also have a long-term impact on the show's popularity, especially if YouTube further tightens its policies. It is already a challenge for poker live streams and similar formats to navigate a constantly changing regulatory environment. This is especially true on platforms like YouTube, which are used worldwide and therefore have to adhere to strict guidelines. Feldman and co-founder Nick Vertucci may be forced to adapt their business strategy in the future or permanently switch to alternative platforms such as Twitch or poker streaming services.
If someone can connect me with someone at YouTube who can make decisions and give us concrete information, I'll give you $1,000. If you can help us, I'll give you $3,000.” – Ryan Feldman, CEO of Hustler Casino Live, x.com
Feldman has already suggested that the ban could be a warning and that further adjustments may be necessary to keep YouTube operating. In any case, as long as the ban is valid, Feldman has to make do with Twitch.
