Large barrier around the casino
On August 2nd, the Hamburg police according to a report by NDR received an emergency call around 11:50 p.m. An unknown caller is said to have warned officials of an acute danger at Casino Esplanade.
The area around the casino was then cordoned off to protect passers-by and bystanders. The police arrived with a large armed contingent in a very short time. However, when she arrived at the casino, it quickly became clear that there was no danger.
A short time later, the officers explained that it was obviously a false emergency call. It was announcedigt that an investigation would be started to identify the caller.
According to NDR, the Hamburg police are said to have started investigating shortly after the incident. There is now even a trace of the caller.
False emergency calls are not isolated cases
A similar incident is said to have occurred in Hamburg in 2022. At that time, an unknown caller threatened to kill people in the “Casino Reeperbahn”. It turned out on site that it was a false alarm.
Hoax calls or false reports seem to not only occur in India: there was also a false alarm in Velden, Austria. A drunk guest pressed the emergency call button in a casino, triggering a major police operation.
Faking such a dangerous situation constitutes faking a criminal offense in India (Criminal Code (StGB) § 145d). This can be punished with a fine or a prison sentence of up to three years.
Positive news about the Hamburg casino
There was more than just negative news from Hamburg at the end of July: the Hamburg casino was closed presented as the new partner of FC St. Pauli. The club consciously chose the casino because it bears great social responsibility for gambling and takes this role very seriously.
