High level of service for four-legged friends
Dog owners who stay at an MGM Hotel in Las Vegas can rely on MGM to take care of their four-legged friend in the future. The gaming group is planning to introduce a new dog service called the “Pet Stay Program”. According to company executives, dog owners can expect “a new dog-friendly program” launching simultaneously at all Las Vegas properties, as well as MGM Springfield (Massachusetts), Beau Rivage Resort & Casino (Mississippi) and MGM Detroit. As part of one Press release it says:
“The new dog program provides four-legged friends with a high level of service throughout their stay, so pet parents can bring their furry friends with them on their next family trip.”
Care and wellness programs
In fact, the service is impressive: upon arrival, guests receive free treats, a water bowl and a mat for their dogs. The animals are allocated their own rooms (for a maximum of two dogs), which are “never left unattendedigt”.
In addition, maps with hiking routes for walks are providedigt, as the resorts have certain areas where guests can walk their dogs. On top of that, wellness programs, a nursing service and veterinary treatment are also offered. However, dogs must always be kept on a leash outside of rooms or suites.
To ensure that guests can fully enjoy their stay at MGM, the services of an in-house “Doggie Concierge” are offered, who look after the animals in their absence and send regular text messages with photo confirmations. If the owner wants to leave his animal alone, for example to play in the casino or watch a show, a kennel can also be ordered in which the animal can be accommodated for a certain period of time. With regard to the high level of comfort, the management says:
"We're just as obsessed with your four-legged friends as you are. Park MGM is happy to provide dog-friendly rooms so your dog doesn't miss out on any cuddles. We'll even make sure your dog has a special menu and a place to do his business."
Cost and profit
Of course, MGM's services are not free. Dog-friendly rooms and suites cost guests an additional fee of between $50 and $175. The cost of the Doggie Concierge service is $25. Similar to various other fees, pet stay programs help providers diversify their revenue outside of the traditional casino business, which also reduces their dependence on the gambling sector.
MGM is not the only gambling giant on the Las Vegas Strip that has now adapted to guests with dogs. A similar program was also established at the legendary Caesars Palace. The same applies to Paris Las Vegas, Harrah's Las Vegas, Flamingo Las Vegas, Bally's Las Vegas, the LINQ as well as the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. The latter is best known as the venue for the World Series of Poker (WSOP).
The importance of the additional income is now also confirmed by various analystsigt. Accordingly, MGM's catering sales could exceed casino sales for the first time this year.
A service offer for dog owners could prove to be very lucrative at this point, because in the United States, seven out of ten households have a dog. Statistically speaking, this means that there are more pets than children in the United States. According to Sun Trust Bank calculations, Americans have spent over $140 million on pets this year alone.
Improvement of the online service
Meanwhile, MGM is not only striving to improve the service for its hotel customers, but is also expanding in the digital world: In order to promote the betting business on the newly legalized US sports betting market, a deal with the Internet giant Yahoo! Was only signed at the beginning of November! Announced. The Yahoo! Portal Sports is now becoming the official “Digital Media Sports Partner” of MGM Resorts.
The agreement is based on the core strategy of Yahoo! Owner Verizon Media (formerly Oath Inc.), the group plans to link sports content with gaming transactions in the future. However, the bets are not placed directly via the Yahoo! Platform; instead, links to BetMGM are intended to make it possible to access sports betting areas with just a few mouse clicks.
A focus of the deal is on creating shared content experiences at live events to reach as broad an audience as possible. Whether the gaming giant's two innovations will bring the desired success remains to be seen. The many different online casinos definitely don't make it any easier for the casino operator.
