In my experience report I want to first go into what I think is the best roulette strategy, followed by different progressive betting systems. Then I'll go into other roulette systems and give you some top tips and tricks. Last but not least, I will explain roulette terms to you and have put together some FAQs.
The best roulette strategy
It would be dubious and wrong to recommend a very specific roulette strategy here. The game is still based on chance and luck. Although you can decide what you want to bet and where you place your bet, where the ball will end up is uncertain. Theoretically, only the color red can fall for 24 hours, but in practice this has never happened. Here I will show you the two roulette strategies that are among my favorites because with them and a little luck you can play roulette successfully. The James Bond and Martingale strategy. Both systems are very simple, fun and have the potential for good winnings. You can find information about this and many other approaches to the popular ball game of chance below.

**Depending on the size and financial risk of the operation
Roulette strategies can be roughly divided into three approaches: progressive, non-progressive and physical. In countless hours I have tested many different roulette strategies and can now give you my honest opinion about each one. I will also try to explain each of these roulette systems as simply as possible and tell you how the whole thing works.
Progressive Roulette Systems
Progressive roulette systems are based on increasing bets in the event of a loss. This is an attempt to make up for the previous loss and get into the profit zone. This type of strategy is the most common and you will find many strategies for it here. How and to what extent the stakes are increased after a losing spin depends on the respective approach, your own playing style and the capital you want to use. Let's take a look at some of the most famous roulette strategies together.
Martingale
If you have done a little research into roulette tactics and strategies beforehand, you have probably come across the Martingale system. This system is very simple and with enough capital and patience you can be very successful with it. I only recommend this approach for the classic variants such as French or European Roulette and ideally with that too La Partage rule, because if the zero falls, you don't immediately lose your stake, but have the chance to unlock it again. In American Roulette , in addition to the zero, there is also the double zero, which of course reduces your chances if you play on simple odds, as with the Martingale strategy.
This is how the Martingale system works:
If you take a closer look at the Martingale system, it is all about making up for possible losses by doubling the stake on the same bet. This particular roulette plan is played exclusively on simple odds such as red/black or even/odd. I recommend you start with small stakes of 0 $– 3 $The system starts at the first loss. If you lost 3 $on red, you bet 6 $on red. If you lose again, you bet 10 $and so on until you win. If this happens, you will not only have recouped your previous loss, but you will also receive the winnings of the original 3 $This system requires patience as it can take some time to work your way up. But it can add up to a nice sum.
Risks and defects:
The problem with this strategy is the limits that exist at each roulette table and the capital required in the event of a negative streak. By constantly doubling your stake when you lose, you run the risk of having to bet large sums at some point. If you reach the table limits, you have completely lost your capital and can no longer win it back. So it's best to choose a roulette casino with very high table limits. The danger also lies in losing patience and wanting to make quick profits with higher stakes. With a stake of 60 $you will reach the limits faster than you think.
Summary: Martingale is simple and sounds logical. If you lose on simple chances, the previous bet is simply doubled until you win. Caution is advised with the table limits, which can be reached in the event of longer periods of bad luck and the stake is doubled. If that happens, all of your capital will be lost.
James Bond Roulette Strategy
Mr. 007 has been in casinos in some of his adventures, not just since Casino Royal. Therefore, it is not surprising that a roulette winning system was named after the smart agent. I'm not sure if this system really suits the famous spy, but make up your own mind here.
This is how the James Bond tactic works:
Here you ideally start with an amount of 100 $This sum is divided into three different bets. 60 $for the high numbers i.e. 19-20 $ 50 is placed on the 6 numbers 13 – 18 and the remaining 6 $is placed on zero. Depending on your wallet you can adjust the amount, but usually 100 $is played. This strategy partly moves away from playing with easy chances. If a number between 1 and 12 comes up and you lose your bet, the strategy continues and the same bet is doubled according to the Martingale system until the round is won. This method should only be used if there is enough capital to cover a long losing streak or you will lose the money you have wagered.
| The stakes | Profit |
|---|---|
| 60 $on 19-36 | 50 $ |
| 30 $on 13-18 | 60 $ |
| 6 $to 0 | 60 $ |
Risks and defects:
The James Bond betting strategy generally has the same shortcomings as the Martingale. You can reach the betting limits before the lost money is recovered. You should also stick to the system and not deviate from it and set additional numbers. It should be noted that, like all other strategies, this still depends on luck and is therefore not a surefire roulette system.
Summary: The system sounds very cool and it covers many numbers on the table. The problem: If one of the numbers falls that was not bet on, the bet is lost and must be doubled. Therefore, the system should not be used too often if you want to play roulette properly. Nevertheless, the strategy has potential for high profits. However, you should have enough capital available to minimize the risk of loss.
Paroli system
In contrast to the Martingale strategy, with the Paroli system you increase your stake after a win until you have won three times in a row. As an example: You bet a chip and win on black, then you receive another piece as a win. With Paroli you do not withdraw your winnings, but continue playing with the original stake and winnings until you have won three times in a row. If you lose once in this series, you go back to the first bet. This method is not so aggressive and allows you to make an additional bet after a few rounds of play if you have a bank of money saved up.
This is how the Paroli technique works:
This system also relies primarily on simple chances such as red or black, even or odd or 1-18 and 19-36. The risk of starting with higher amounts is not as great here as with the other systems, as you already know in advance that you have to raise the initial stake a maximum of four times. So make your bet and if you win it will be doubled and if you lose it will be reset again. The goal is to win three times in a row, then the series starts again at the beginning. The same applies if the bet is lost. This system can also be played at tables with smaller betting limits as it does not require huge bets to recoup losses from previous bets.
Risks and defects:
The risk with this system is that the winnings depend on consecutive wins, of which there can of course be no guarantee. If this is the case at all, it can take a long time to get three wins in a row. What this means for you is that you can lose money without winning anything. Like all systems, this one is extremely dependent on chance and it cannot be recommended as a safe roulette system to increase your chances of winning.
Summary: With Paroli you aim for three consecutive wins, where the win automatically doubles your stake. After three wins or one loss, you start again with the original stake to protect your money.
Parlay
With the parlay system you increase your bet after a win. While Paroli also raises based on profits, Parlay targets a set winning streak and is based on reinvested profits, not additional capital.
This is how the parlay strategy works:
- Starts with a basic stake.
- Double your stake after every win up to a predetermined point.
- Returns to basic mission after a loss or after reaching the goal.
Risks and defects:
- Pros: Reduced risk of big losses, potential for significant gains on winning streaks.
- Disadvantages: Winning streaks are rare, and one can lose accumulated winnings in a single loss.
Summary: The parlay strategy is suitable for players who enjoy the thrill of increasing their bet after a win and prefer a less aggressive approach.
D'Alembert
This roulette strategy is dedicated to the French mathematician Jean Baptiste le Rond D’Alembert. The D’Alembert System is one of the lower risk strategies you will find on this page. This system can be particularly interesting for beginners who are not yet very familiar with roulette strategies and are wondering what is the best way to play roulette? The effective use of this roulette tactic requires a lot of patience from you, as a gradual change in the bet amount is required for every bet, regardless of whether you win or lose.
This is how the D’Alembert strategy works:
This strategy is relatively simple. First, the basic bet is placed, as in the example 6 $on one of the simple odds such as even or odd or red/black. Then start with a smaller amount and bet 0 $for example. If a move is won, the bet is reduced by 0 $If the bet is lost, the bet increases by 0 $A very simple game principle that is not difficult to remember. With this roulette strategy you have to adjust the bet after each round and it can be frustrating to see such low returns on the bets. Patience is important here. The system is not intended for those of you who want to make big profits quickly. It is intended more for fans of this classic table game who enjoy playing the game and would like to place an additional bet here and there.
Risks and defects:
While the gradual increase in stakes will not drive you bankrupt and the stake limits do not pose a potential for conflict for you, there is still a complaint that the respective increase of one euro does not compensate for your losses. This system will not make you rich unless you are very lucky and have a lot of time.
Summary: The D’Alembert Technique is simple. Increase your bet by 0 $after a loss and decrease your bet by 0 $if you win. The D’Alembert strategy is very slow, requires a lot of patience and is not necessarily suitable for winning a lot of money quickly.
Labouchère
With the Labouchère strategy, the approach is slightly different than with the other systems. Here you first decide how much you would like to win. Let’s assume you want to win 10 $with the round. This number is now divided into smaller numbers in order to then try to win a part of the total with each bet. For example, you can divide the 10 $you want to win into 2-2-4-2-4-4-2 (=20). It is very helpful to write down this division so that you don't get confused during the game.
This is how the Labouchère system works:
At the beginning you determine the amount you want to win. Then you divide this sum into smaller numbers - as already explained in the example above. Now enter this sequence of numbers into the Labouchère form, which you can download here as a roulette strategy PDF. Then it starts: Add the last two digits from the left and right and place this amount on one of the simple chances. If you win, these two numbers are crossed out. If the bet is lost, put this number at the right end of your number line, because you have to win this amount back in order to reach the winning amount. This process must be repeated over and over again. So add the last two digits on the left and right again and set them again. This system continues until there are no more numbers on the list.
Risks and defects:
This strategy can be used for both large and small winning amounts. In my opinion it is also very useful for recording your bets, wins and losses. In a land-based casino it can be difficult because I'm not sure the dealer is willing to wait for your notes before throwing the ball. Also in Live Roulette Casino Sometimes it can happen too quickly to write everything down and calculate it. As with all systems, chance plays the biggest role in success or failure.
Summary: The Labouchère strategy is for those of you who know exactly how much you want to win. It's helpful to determine the amount and then be able to break it down into steps. Just be warned, there is no guarantee that you will be able to cross all the numbers off the list.
Fibonacci
Have you ever heard of the Fibonacci number sequence? This is a list of numbers that are the sum of the previous two numbers. Below you can see this series of numbers. The Italian mathematician Fibonacci introduced the number sequence to Europe a long time ago and gives it his name. The sequence of numbers has now been developed into a roulette strategy.
This is how the Fibonacci system works:
As with the Martingale System, this strategy can only be used for simple chances like red or black, not for combinations. The bets here are made according to the Fibonacci sequence. You bet the amount that corresponds to the first number in the sequence. If you lose, you move to the next number in the order and place the bet according to the number indicated there. If you win, move two numbers backwards, to the left. When you have reached the beginning of the row, you place another bet that corresponds to the first number until you lose and then continue accordingly. Here is an example:
You bet 0 $and win. The cycle is finished and you start again at the beginning of the sequence. You bet 0 $and lose. Then you bet 0 $again (this bet now corresponds to the second number in the sequence) and win. Now you should return two numbers but there is only one number (1) so 0 $is bet again. If you win, you start all over again.
You bet 0 $and lose. As you continue, you will lose the stakes of 0 $0 $0 $3 $and 0 $Then you're lucky and win with your next bet of 6 $This means for you that your next bet will be 3 $and you will then continue as described above.
Risks and defects:
The big difference between the. Martingale and the Fibonacci strategy, is that with the Martingale strategy one bet with a win is enough to complete the winning streak, in contrast to the Fibonacci strategy. A win only offsets the last two losing bets. Of course, as with all strategies, there is the possibility that after a long streak of bad luck you will lose everything or even reach the table limits.
Summary: The Fibonacci strategy is very old and has been used to this day. It's less risky, but if you want to win quick money at roulette, I wouldn't recommend this strategy. As with all strategies, luck plays a big role here too.
Other progressive systems
There are a lot of other methods where the stakes slowly increase. Some examples of this are the Montante Hollande System, the Whittacker Progression, the Goldstein Progression and the Fitzroy System, all of which are similar to the above in terms of playing style and advantages and disadvantages.
Roulette strategies and combinations without progression
Non-progression roulette strategies use number sequences and statistics to predict the outcome of games. In contrast to progressive gaming systems, the stake does not change depending on the previous results, but remains the same. You try to bet on the numbers that are most likely to fall.
Bet on numbers
Betting directly on numbers may seem riskier than the strategies presented previously, as the chance of betting on a single number and winning seems much lower. In general, it is worth repeating here that no betting strategy is likely to lead to making money. So it is no less likely to win with a bet on a single number.
How does betting directly on numbers work:
With this strategy you bet on individual numbers that haven't fallen for a long time. The idea is that these numbers have a higher chance of falling and therefore the possibility of winning increases. The “law of large numbers” assumes that due to the even distribution, numbers that are overdue must soon fall again. In some land-based casinos it is possible to have statistics printed out for certain tables and thus get an overview. Otherwise, it requires a lot of time and patience as several rounds have to be played to determine which numbers can be considered overdue. With the table, which you can download as a PDF, you have the opportunity to note everything down in order to keep an overview. Online casinos are definitely ahead here, as your own statistics can be easily viewed at any time.
Risks and defects:
The weaknesses of this strategy are obvious - it takes a long time to get a sufficient number of rounds to be able to predict which number could soon fall again. The stakes should be kept small here so that you don't experience major disappointment. Of course, it can also happen that Fortuna is on your side and you get lucky with such bets.
Summary: Also known as Andrucci, the system seems like a smart strategy, but the randomness of this game means there is no guarantee that an overdue number will even appear.
Physical systems
Physical systems attempt to use small errors in the wheel or to analyze the way the dealer throws the ball in to predict the area where the ball will land. This type of betting strategy can safely be described as the least reliable. I can't recommend any of them to win money. Of course, you can watch the dealer carefully and try to predict where the ball will land, but if you succeed, it's just luck.
Error in the wheel of the roulette table
This system is only available for land-based casinos, where the roulette wheels can theoretically be affected by errors. They can occur during the manufacture of the boiler or during installation. The wheel may not be completely horizontal under certain circumstances. This can cause some numbers to fall more often than others. This is of course very difficult to recognize. In order to use such possible mistakes to your own advantage, you need a lot of time and a keen eye. In addition, it is extremely unlikely that such errors will appear. Casinos pay close attention to ensuring that errors in the wheel are corrected immediately and that fairness is guaranteed.
Summary: This strategy is only for land-based casinos with real roulette tables and wheels. A very dubious roulette strategy and not particularly reliable.
Throw-in strategy
A system occasionally used by roulette professionals is to closely observe the croupier's actions to assess how the ball will be inserted. An attempt is made to predict in which area of the wheel the ball will land based on the position and speed of the roulette wheel. The most famous example of this is Christian Kaisan. The Saxon began his playing career in the GDR and bought himself time off in 1981 to spend three years in Hamburg as a “kettle watcher” observing everything and analyzing all the boilers from different manufacturers. In the end he was so successful that he was banned from many casinos. The casinos adapted to this system and set special regulations for players and limited the time left for betting. Nowadays, this throw-in strategy is difficult to use due to bowl speeds. It is almost impossible to predict an exact outcome.
Summary: This strategy may work for some lucky people, but usually you lose or you just got lucky and have a good nose for the number.
Top tips and tricks while playing at the roulette table
Here you will find a small overview with some top tips that every roulette player should keep in mind when sitting at the table and playing. Some of the things may seem very obvious to you, but sometimes you forget them in the heat of the moment, especially when a strategy is being used. Remember these four simple tips when playing:
Play French or European Roulette only
Only plays European and French Roulette versions. This way you can reduce the house edge and increase your chances of winning. In American Roulette, the bank's chances are better thanks to the additional double zero.
Set limits and be consistent
Think beforehand about how much money you are willing to invest in roulette and also how much you want to win and stick to it consistently. Even if you have reached your winning goal after 10 minutes or the capital is gone, do not continue playing. Otherwise you run the risk of losing your winnings or making even more losses. I myself sometimes do it like this when I'm on a supposed streak of luck: When I've reached my winning goal, I continue playing until I lose it and then I end my game immediately.
Plays easy chances
Predominantly relies on the easy chances. Although you win more with other bets, the chances of winning are also lower. With red, black, even, odd or 1-18 and 19-36 you have almost a 50:50 chance of winning. But always be aware that, even if red has already fallen 15 times, the chance of black coming out is no greater than before.
Have fun playing the game
Don't forget to have fun while playing. Even though there are many roulette strategies, it is clear that roulette is also a game of chance. Everything is based on chance and no system can guarantee winnings. Therefore, the best way is to have fun and enjoy the thrill when the ball rolls.
If you follow the above points, you can have a lot of fun playing roulette. It's a fun game and the adrenaline levels rise when the ball rolls and the stakes are set. But anyone who sees this game as a money printing machine and thinks that they can make a living with it will sooner or later be disappointed. Set limits and stick to them. Treat losses as a ticket to the entertainment and thrill, and in the event of a winning streak, rejoice in the win and treat yourself. With a healthy attitude towards the game and the knowledge that sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, roulette can be an exciting pastime, whether online or in a real casino.
Tools and diagrams
On this page I have covered and explained many different roulette strategies. I wouldn't be surprised if you've lost track a little. That's why I've provided you with some helpful diagrams or forms that you can download as PDFs so you can then test some strategies. I recommend that you use them in your favorite online roulette games and maybe try them out. Have your pens ready and have fun with my free resources.
Diagrams and tools to download
Here you will find useful diagrams and forms for the Labouchère strategy and the numbers game. Simply print out the sheets and use them during the game. They help you stay organized in the heat of battle and you don't have to remember everything.
Labouchère form PDF Download Number notes PDF Download
There are many players who swear by the above strategies. You can try them out yourself. I like the Martingale strategy more and sometimes use it in a slightly modified form. I wait until red or black has come out two or three times and only then start using the strategy. I've already saved up to three bets during a losing streak. However, it can happen that it takes a long time until you can finally get into the game.
